This Privacy Policy explains what information BirdieJobs collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to birdiejobs.com and the BirdieJobs service (together, the “Service”).
Information we collect
When you create an account or use the Service, we collect:
- Account info: name, email address, password (stored securely, never in plain text), phone number if you provide one, and date of birth (used only to confirm you meet our minimum age requirement, then discarded — we don’t keep the exact date on file)
- Seeker profile info:preferred roles, availability, resume link, golf handicap, state and zip code, and profile photo — all optional, provided at your discretion
- Course/employer info: course name, location, description, and logo, if you sign up as an employer
- Applications: the name, contact details, cover note, and resume you submit when applying to a job
- Usage data:pages you visit and general interactions with the site, collected via standard web technologies and the Meta Pixel (see “Advertising” below)
How we use it
We use your information to:
- Operate the Service — create your account, show your profile to Courses you apply to, and show Course listings to Seekers
- Send account-related emails, like a welcome message when you sign up and notifications about new applicants (Courses) or application status (Seekers)
- Keep the Service secure and prevent abuse
- Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it
- Measure and improve our advertising
How we share it
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With Courses you apply to — your application details are visible to the Course you applied to, and (if you turn on profile visibility) your seeker profile may be visible to Courses browsing for candidates
- With service providerswho help us run BirdieJobs: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Resend (transactional email), and Meta (advertising, described below) — each only has access to what it needs to provide its service to us
- If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of BirdieJobs or our users
Advertising
We use the Meta Pixel on birdiejobs.com to measure the performance of our ads and understand how people find the Service. This lets Meta (Facebook/Instagram) collect some information about your visit — like pages viewed — for ad measurement and, potentially, to show you BirdieJobs ads elsewhere. You can control this through your Facebook ad preferences or with browser tools that block third-party tracking.
Cookies
We use a cookie to keep you signed in between visits. We don’t use cookies for anything beyond keeping your session working and the advertising measurement described above.
Your choices
- You can edit or remove most of your profile information any time from your dashboard
- Seekers can turn profile visibility to Courses on or off at any time
- You can request that we delete your account and associated data by contacting us below
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we need to keep it to comply with the law or resolve disputes.
Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for people 16 and older. We verify your date of birth at signup and don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls on our database. No method of storing or transmitting data is 100% secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll post the update here with a new “last updated” date.
